Motorola and Nokia both launched affordable smartphones in Barcelona - the Moto G5 and Nokia 5, respectively. They have one significant common denominator - the use of the Snapdragon 430 SoC. The new Moto and Nokia smartphones also come with decent specifications and fall in the affordable category, inevitably becoming competition for each other. Both the companies will also compete with several other smartphone makers, as the mid-range segment is overly crowded with many smartphones to choose from.

Here, we pit the Moto G5 and Nokia 5 with the Xiaomi Redmi 3S Prime, as Xiaomi is a big contender in the mid-range segment, and the Redmi 3S Prime comes with really good specifications at a very affordable price. Here's how they fare against each other on paper.

The Nokia 5 has the largest display at 5.2 inches, with the other two at 5 inches. However, resolution-wise the Moto G5 wins with a full-HD resolution, while the other two offer HD resolutions. As we mentioned, all the three smartphones run on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 SoC. The Redmi 3S Prime offers a 3GB RAM, and so does the Moto G5 (but at a slightly higher price). The Nokia 5, in comparison, only offers 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage. All the three smartphones sport an elegant metal design. The Moto G5 also has a removable battery for easy replacement. The fingerprint scanner of the Nokia 5 and Moto G5 is situated in the front underneath the Home Button, while the Redmi 3S Prime has it at the back.
