The Moto E runs Android 4.4.2 (Kitkat), has decent specs, and most importantly, is dirt cheap. It set a new standard for phones of its price, and many Indian OEMs sat up to take notice. We now have a good number of phones launching with Android Kitkat, and many more are on their way.

Micromax Unite 2 Summary

The Micromax Unite 2 is a worthy contender to the dependable Motorola Moto E. We like its big screen and fuss-free performance. The fact that it has support for 21 languages is a big advantage too.

  • Simple yet awesome...

First of all thanks flipkart for the super fast delivery. .i stay in a remote area in karnataka still got this phone in my hands within 2 and half days all the way from new delhi. . Moving onto Specs of this phone: Pros:- It has a MT6582 quad core processor clocked @ 1.3 Ghz and 1 GB of RAM with Mali 400 GPU. I had never used a MT chipset phone before but after buying this phone i gotta admit it is indeed better than the snapdragon 200 of moto e which my friend bought at the same time. No lag during multitasking. for ex: I have installed a bunch of high end games like NOVA 3, MC 4, Batman:The dark knight rises, GTA vice city and asphalt 8. I also have few 1080p movies in my SD card. I can watch HD movies while running the said games in background w/o any lag. Also i can switch b/w games and movies via multitasking without any delay or lag. I have never found any lag while playing above said HD games. I play asphalt 8 and GTA vice city at high settings, NOVA, MC4 and TDKR does not have an option to change graphics settings so i assume they run at max. I saw moto e struggling to run NOVA 3 ( nowhere near to my phone in terms of smoothness). HD movies run silky smooth w/o any issue. RAM is about 965 MB out of which i get 500+ MB free all time. I ran few benchmark apps like Nenamark 2(63.4 FPS), quadrant(Total:8712) and got satisfying results. Since it enables me to install apps and HD games directly onto to my SD card unlike moto e i have no complaints when it comes to storage and the entertainment part. I'm fully satisfied with what it does. Because it has done the best. Screen:- It has an 4.7" IPS LCD WVGA screen with 480 x 800 resolution and 199 ppi. The screen bright and crisp enough for me to enjoy playing HD games and watch HD movies. Touch response is too good. Camera:- It has 5MP rear camera with LED flash and 2MP front camera(touch focus). They are decent in bright light but during night the images taken look crap. Nonetheless i'm happy with the camera because it atleast takes good photos during day time, and also i can record videos in 1080p HD which is the best part for me. Though i rarely use camera. Battery life:- It's an OK from me. It has 2000 mAh battery but drains at faster rate than the other smartphones of same capacity. It hardly gives me an 8 hr stand up with 24/7 wifi turned on. Drains at much faster rate if i use data connectivity. Surprisingly 2G consumes a lot more power than the 3G !!. Though i managed to extend battery life upto 10 hrs by using Battery doctor app which i downloaded from Play store, great app though!!. Heats up a little while playing HD games for more than an hour, same when watching HD movies. Cons:- - Camera performance is crap during night. - Battery consumption is slightly higher though with the App i am using to extend the battery i am still very happy. Other than these i hven't faced any issues.5/5

  • A compact phone that is mostly stock with an average camera and Android KitKat
KUNAL WANVARI (May 31, 2014) on Gadgets 360
The Micromax Unite 2 is a good looking phone with pretty good specs. With a quad core mediatek processor and 1GB RAM, the phone promises to deliver quite a punch with Android KitKat pre-installed. The screen promises to be just above average with a big 4.7 inch LCD IPS panel with a ppi of 199. This is perhaps where all good things ends. Of course the phone comes with a dual band WiFi, Dual SIM with 3G and other such perks, the battery life in my opinion was just disappointing. One would think that with an average screen and Android KitKat, the phone would last throughout the day but the 2000mAh battery fails to deliver. I could not make it last more than 8 hours with 3G and was left somewhat disappointed. What I do like is the fact that it is mostly stock android and looks great but the phone feels a little heavy and bulky. I am not really complaining because the price(7K) was brilliant. The camera at 5MP feels good for the price but the LED FLASH was just bad. It always gives me a bluish tinge on every phone taken and auto focus takes ages to focus. The front cam works great and this is good fr people who love taking selfies. Also, I do not know if its just my phone but the status bar refuses to go transparent in spite of being KitKat. The internal memory is 4gb but the available memory is just 1.7Gb All in all, the phone is decent for the price with all the negatives pointing to an average phone at this price. The Lava iris 104q seems to be a better option.
