  • Underwhelming battery life
  • Extremely expensive

Lenovo's ThinkPad line includes several models that go beyond the common perception of staid, sober business machines that the brand originally became famous for. Lenovo has experimented with various new features including 2-in-1 convertible devices, tablets, and ultra-slim laptops within the ThinkPad family, but they all still prioritise construction quality, reliability, and manageability — to a large extent, at least.

Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Extreme Summary

Lenovo's latest new ThinkPad is a flagship-grade 15-inch model that's relatively slim and light, but packs in enough power not only for business and content creation, but also some gaming. The hardware is all high-end and you get the legendary ThinkPad keyboard along with a sturdy, well-constructed body. The 4K HDR IPS screen will serve you well for entertainment and could come in handy if you work with HDR video. There's plenty of RAM and storage with the high-end variants, and they're easily accessible for upgrades in the future.

Performance is generally very good, except for slightly underwhelming battery life and a tendency for the fans to spin up aggressively and make noise when anything is happening. We could get all our daily work done as well as play games at reasonable settings at full-HD. There are some competitors that offer almost this entire package for a lot less money. If you can stomach the price, you won't find a better device for productivity, content creation, and entertainment.
