Lived up to every expectation

I did a lot of research before purchasing this laptop. The main factor was weight and it is fantastic. Weighs 2 lbs which is what a normal hardcover book frequently does. I was considering non-convertible version but decided to give this a try and I am glad I did. Touch screen and ability to fold open up totally new ways to use the machine even if it is not in a tablet mode. It is just easier to touch a button in a dialog box then to move a mouse. Additionally I loaded emulators for Kindle and Android and now have a very large mobile device that I use for reading books. There are some complains from other users about unusual keyboard. This is true, but I am not a fast touch typist and this does not bother me. Another complain is about "flimsy feeling of the case". That is a total nonsense. The case flexes a little, but it is very sturdy and less slippery than many new aluminum laptops. I prefer this to MacAir by far. The screen is a bit dimmer than some laptops, but it is all traceable to weight and having a 2 lbs convertible laptop justifies it. It is very fast and well equipped with ports including full size HDMI. I also think that WIFI in this PC is better than in MacAir which I used around the house before.I have had many light laptops including MacAir, Sharp, Sony and IBM. This is the best by a large margin.

Best Lightweight I7 Laptop
Minnesota Tech (Apr 26, 2016)
on Amazon
I researched a lot of laptops before purchasing this one. The reason I went with this laptop was that I was looking for a tablet to use on a plane and a computer to use when I got to my destination. It needed to be light weight (this is the lightest I7 Laptop on the market). I needed a screen resolution of at least 1920x1080 (This one has 2560x1440). I also needed that the Hard drive was upgradable and that it had wireless 802.11 AC 2.4 and 5.0 GHz. This unit exceeded all of my specs. after using it with Windows 10 for a couple of months the only minor issues I have with it is that it feels fragile(I expected this with a 1.87 lb. laptop) and the Keyboard key placement, especially the delete key. Once the correct charger was delivered it works correctly. I might consider buying another one if I were sure I wouldn't get the wrong one again. The trouble I had and the waisted time isn't worth it to me.

Super machine & weighs only 932 gms w/o power cord

Super machine & weighs only 932 gms w/o power cord. Have been using for 3 months now & works beautifully. It does take some time to adjust to their keyboard, particualrly as delete key is next to control key resulting unintended deletions. Sturdy make.

Lightest laptop ever, and super fast
Psil303 (Jul 13, 2016)
on Amazon
What can I say, this is the best laptop I have ever owned. I love that it is a 2 in one, it is faster and has better hardware than a Microsoft Surface and is an actual laptop, and is super light - I have never had a lighter laptop. Core i7 processor is super fast. The resolution is amazing in clarity. It works great as a tablet, goes from landscape to portrait display easily, KB and trackpad are disabled when folded all the way back. Touch screen is slightly slow to register touches but this was the same for my older ASUS touch screen laptop. One recommendation, get a screen protector for the Z 360 model. My only gripes are that it has only 2 USB ports, but I use a BT mouse and only use USB for flash drives, so no biggie. The other gripe is the keyboard has some oddly placed keys, I could do without the totally useless FrontSpace key, the backspace key si too small, the Enter key is weird, and the function key is where the control key should be. But I knew this before I bought it and I can deal with it. This laptop is by far the best 2 in one I looked at, and I love it more and more each day now that I own one. I'm a Mac guy but this laptop is way better than the Mac Book Air, lighter and half the price. Get one.

THE KEYBOARD MAKES IT A NO-NO
EJG (Oct 14, 2016)

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE having a laptop that weighs 2 pounds. However, the keyboard layout is SO HORRENDOUS that I am posting this review just to advise others of that. It is so awful that more than three months later, I am still typing at a snail's pace, less than a third as fast as I used to type.I would have gladly spent $300 more just to avoid the keyboard -- it's that bad.UPDATE: I bought a Logitech streamlined keyboard to use instead of the LaVie Z's native keyboard, and that has saved the day. I sit the keyboard on top of the laptop's keyboard, and it works. That said, having to do this still kind of defeats the whole lightweight laptop concept, but at least I have it for travel.

very good screen resolution
Amazon Customer (Aug 2, 2016)

Pros:Very light weight, very good screen resolution.Cons:Extremely uncomfortable keyboard, to the level of lowering productivity. This is unacceptable, and renders this laptop much less usable for anyone creating content. Keys are arranged in a natural way and shape, leading to numerous mistakes: th right "shift" key is so small that you will constantly hit the up arror instead, leading to numerous mistakes, prolonging typing time by 50-100%. The useless "FWD space" keyboard cannot be reassigned to anything else and interferes with using the backspace. This is very surprising considering that Lenovo managed to build much better keybaord layouts on physcially smaller laptops.Battery life - mediocore at best. About 6 hours in real world usage. All in all, I would NOT recommend it to any professional user.

Keyboard is unacceptably horrible
Kevin (May 10, 2016)

This would have been a 5-star computer if not for all the misplaced keys. Right shift key is waay on the right side and very small, making it impossible for me to use it without moving my entire hand. Where the right shift key should be is a useless right click shortcut key that I'm constantly pressing in place of shift. Fn, Ctrl, Windows, and Alt are all messed up on the lower left. Insert and Delete are at the bottom. There is a FWD Space key next to Backspace that is totally useless. It acts the same as the space bar. Enter key is twice the size that it should be, taking two rows.I love the extremely high definition screen. It definitely took my eyes some getting used to and I will leave it in the highest resolution. Microsoft thinks the resolution is too high for you so everything is automatically scaled to 200%. Go into the display settings to change that.SSD was very easy to replace. I put in a 1TB. It is the M.2 format.
