  • A very thin, lightweight, poweerful laptop.
    Bob W (Jun 28, 2018) on Amazon
The Lenovo 530s is a powerful consumer laptop. I am a longstanding Lenovo fan. My prior personal laptop is a ThinkPad. The 530s is part of Lenovo's IdeaPad line. The new 530s is much more powerful than my four-year-old ThinkPad.When shopping for a laptop it's way too easy to get buried in the specs. There are four I think are most important:The CPU is an Intel Core i7 quad processor operating at 1.8 ghz. What this means is that this CPU is latest gen and very fast. Yes, there are faster versions, but this speed is blindingly fast for most of us. Everyone but the most demanding gamer will be delighted with this laptop;s performance.Memory: This model has 8GB of memory. It's good for most applications. Other models of the 530s have 16GB of ram. I use some Adobe applications that are memory hogs. I haven't noticed any memory swapping on this 530s, even with video editing. I would prefer 16GB, but I can't find any real reason to have more than 8.Display: The 14" UHD display is right up there with my Macbook Pro. The 2GB GeForce discrete graphic processor provides smooth display of video and movies. The colors are brilliant. Blacks are deep black. Brightness is excellent.Disk space: This 530s has 256GB of solid state "disk". It's very fast and makes booting and loading apps a pleasure. I keep my photo library and documents in the cloud, so 256GB of onboard disk is plenty. After loading all the apps I like to use (complete MS Office, Photoshop, etc.), I still have more than half the disk available. Yes, 512GB would be nice, but I really don't need it.The most wonderful thing for me is that the 530s is light! It weighs in at 3.5 lbs. It's thin, only a little over 1/2-inch thick. It also has the ports I need. It has 2 USB 3.1 ports (there is no such thing as 3.0). It has a card slot that takes popular memory cards like SD, a HDMI port and audio in/out jack. The one thing I don't love is the touchpad. I haven't been able to figure out exactly how to use it for clicking and right clicking. It does respond to one finger for left click and two for right click, but not over the entire surface of the pad. This pad is very similar to the one on my wife's Dell XPS but not quite as good as the Macbook Pro. I'm sure that with time, the Lenovo touchpad will be fine for me.The way I see it, this is a really powerful computer that will serve almost all of us. It isn't a gamer's powerhouse. It's not a Macbook Pro. It is a great, lightweight high end laptop that will delight. It's definitely a great value. The configuration offered here is perfect for me.

  • great pc for when one travels
Beth (May 25, 2019) on Amazon
After contacting the seller he came through with the update on my warranty. Was nice enough to follow through. So, this is a nice lightweight pc for when I need to travel. Can handle some games, not a hard core gamer pc but works with the one I play. Since, when home I need to use ethernet and this does not have a port, I asked the seller to recommend a splitter and he did , it works great and I can when home use my ethernet. All in all happy with this pc for what I bought it for and the seller.

  • I am in love!

This is a wonderful laptop that I cannot more highly recommend--10 stars please. It is super light weight and attractive, charges easily. It computes quickly and has great color on the screen. I am not really "techy" so I cannot speak to those functions, but I know this is user end friendly and love it. I highly recommend it!

  • Excellent mix of everyday and gaming features
Go Play Outside (Jun 30, 2018) on Amazon
This small Lenovo laptop is the perfect mix of processing power, gaming ability, portability, quality and price. The machine is solidly built, lightweight and a good performer. Battery life is okay but a tad disappointing based on the size, especially when compared to competing products like a MacBook Air. The high-resolution screen is the real gem here. It?s bright, razor sharp and has excellent color rendition and saturation. The color temperature is just right. It?s not too warm and yellow nor too cool and bluish. A white screen actually looks white, and bright white at that. The screen is easy to view indoors or outdoors in bright sunlight. I found no flaws like bad pixels, edge light bleed or uneven lighting. I've had two ultrabooks from different vendors in the past with subpar high-resolution displays. One cost more than twice the cost of this Lenovo yet this display blows them both away. The 256gb SSD is very fast.Performance is great for an everyday notebook. I'm currently using it as my day to day laptop and it handles everything I throw at it so far. This includes MS Office 2016, Photoshop, Vegas, network management and developer tools and utilities like my antivirus/anti malware apps. I?m very familiar with the MX150 gaming capabilities but outside of an occasional round of Solitaire, I don?t really plan to use this for gaming. Windows 10 works fine on the machine and I haven?t experienced any issues nor even any errors in the event log so far. Working in the OS is quick and responsive from boot to shut down and everything in-between. The fan does kick in quite a bit but I also frequently tax the machine. Speaking of the fan, the only noise this laptop makes is the occasional low whooshing sound when the fan is running. Otherwise, it is completely silent during operation other than whatever is played through the speakers. The nicely backlit keyboard has no flex nor makes any irritating clacking sounds. The embedded design of the keys allows for comfortable typing. The backlight can be easily toggled off and on as needed from the keyboard. The multitouch trackpad is very responsive and accurate. The PC's AC wall adapter is square and plugs directly into the wall rather than a power brick. There aren?t a ton of extras or ports but my favorite is the fingerprint scanner. It works just as well as the sensor on my smartphones and tablets for logging into Windows and secure apps/sites. It?s also much easier to set up and use than many of the clumsy laptop fingerprint sensors I?ve used in the past. In addition to the fingerprint scanner, this Lenovo has three USB 3 ports (2 type B, 1 type C), a standard HDMI port, a 3.5mm combo headphone/mic jack, an SD/MMC card reader and Bluetooth. Like most newer laptops, there is no optical drive nor an ethernet port. The budget class MX150 isn?t a hardcore gaming GPU by any stretch but it will handle many current games at decent enough resolutions and framerates. This is my second MX-150 equipped laptop. I can play Overwatch, PUBG, Fortnite and others with zero problems outside of a rare stutter if I get too ambitious with the settings. As long as I keep expectations realistic and settings set where the MX150 can handle it, it'll play pretty much anything I want it to. It?s not going to play the latest games at settings cranked up to ultra, resolution set super high and hopes for a 200fps frame rate but that's an example of unrealistic expectations and I seriously doubt anyone looking for that type performance would purchase this laptop for that purpose anyhow. It?s perfect for anyone who primarily wants a quality small hyper-portable everyday laptop with good battery life and moderate gaming ability.

Mighty impressed with this one. I could not find a laptop with better specs in this price range.Pros-Lightning fast.Stunner to look at.Decent battery life. (5-6 hours on using MS Excel consistently)Cons-Speakers could be better.Brightness is definitely sub-par making dark videos not that great to see.
