Easy to use, very fast. It does not have a backlit keyboard, which I would have preferred. One thing to be aware of is that the keyboard is offset to the left to allow for the 10 numeric keys on the right. Something to get used to with hand positioning.

I am running Ubuntu 12.04 on this laptop, and it runs great! I have had no issues with it. I doubled the ram in it, and it now runs even better.

I needed an entry level Laptop for my daughter to run both Linux and Windows. This machine fills the bill and is quite fast under Linux MINT.Windows 8.1 is only slightly better than 8.0. Get ClassicShell!

Great laptop for the price!

I bought this laptop for my little brother a few months ago, because his old one was, well, getting old! It just wasn't handling simple MMOs as smooth as it should. Lenovo is a great brand (the best for a Windows PC, in my opinion), and this one is no exception! It's well put together, and feels great! No cheap feel to it at all. And best of all, it handles games like MapleStory and League of Legends really smoothly. I looked at several laptops across all brands at the $500 price point, and this one was the best at the time I ordered. If you're looking for an inexpensive (but not crappy!) laptop, Lenovo makes awesome ones!

The computer is really fast and easy to use. The price was right. It has windows 8 on it so what can I say. That is the fault of Microsoft.

Laptop is superior to any others I have owned. Windows 8 is awful. I wish they offered a choice of the Windows operating System prior to purchasing.

Years after my purchase and it still works like a charm! It was a great deal on a really nice starter gaming laptop. I play mostly Minecraft, Terraria, TF2, Smite, and other games, all which work very nicely on this computer.

I have 8 months using this laptop and it's the best laptop i had in my life. In all this time it never froze or gave any problems.I use it for watch movies and series online, play video games, for work and other stuff. This laptop is really fast, when i turn it on it just takes like 3 seconds to be ready for use.I adapted really quick to windows 8 and now its one of my favorites.Speakers have a decent sound for a laptop. Battery works really well (5 to 6 hours in use)I totally recomend this laptop.

Pros:Best bang for buck laptop I could find (got it for $400, refurbished)Processor and graphics are powerful enough for everyday tasks and even moderate gamingRuns very cool, the processor almost never goes over 80C at full loadKeyboard feels great to type onBoots up in less that 15 seconds.Nearly instant wake from sleepFan is nearly silent, even at full loadSpeakers are above the keyboard and are good quality and volumeback opens up after removing only 2 screwsfan is easy to cleanCons:Built in mic is basically trashglossy display = lots of glare in well lit roomsright shift is shorter than most other keyboards which takes a bit of getting used tosurface is a fingerprint magnetcaps lock indicator is below the trackpad (not very obvious when caps lock is on)body feels a bit plasticky and can bend slightly in thinner spotscomes with several gigs of bloatware (protip: pc decrapifier)Keep in mind before buying:This laptop is a bit heavy (6lb with charger)I can manage to squeeze out about 5-6 hours of battery life with the brightness on less than half in balanced power mode, your results may vary.comes with windows 8 (can be a pro for some, con for others)multitouch trackpad can be a bit finicky until you figure it outThe Intel turbo boost almost never comes up to 3.2 GHz. It usually goes up to 3 GHz and only when on high performance mode (this will eat up your battery in a couple hours, you have been warned)Bottom line:If you are looking for a good midrange laptop for a great price, you can't go wrong with this one.

Still going strong after all these years. Use it for everything from music production to games to software development. Put extra RAM and an SSD in it to make it a solid budget laptop.

Why is it cheaper than other laptops? It is because of all the bloatware it has; however, they can be uninstalled. It is a great at home office laptop with sold performance with 5 hour battery on battery saving mode. The accurate keyboard is great and smooth. I've had this laptop for a month now and I'm still a happy consumer!

Thanks to Amazon it was delivered a day before estimate, it came well packaged. While the laptop matched all the specifications and is functioning adequately but I give it a 4 because the build of the laptop is very plasticky and hollow.

Nice computer, but hard to set up wireless connection.
Pelaez (Nov 16, 2013)
on Amazon
This computer is nice. But I hate Windows 8. It is so disturbing for people like me for whom a computer is for working. In addition I had problems for wireless connection. I had to look for a couple of friends to help me with this. After setting up several things (I do not what exactly because I am not very familiar with computer software) the computer is finally able to connect to wireless (three weeks after buying it!!!) Lenovo needs to be aware about this problem and, at least, recommend the necessary steps to fix this problem.

All good but expected a little more

This computer truly works great, in every way. There's just one thing that's bothering me... It's not as fast as it should be. I mean, it has an i5 processor, 4GB ram which is more than enough for basic usage but still in some aspects (small aspects though) it's slower than i expected for a pc with this specs.

Cheap, Decent Quality, Good Specs
Jonathan0000 (Dec 9, 2013)

I have had no major issues with this laptop, only small complaints, but overall for the price that I bought this at, it's definitely worth it. Take note that I have only owned this laptop for a little over a week, so I can't attest to how long it will last. I will definitely update if I have any hardware issues.PROS1.) Intel Core i5 processor is very fast (2.6GHz)2.) Plenty of RAM for the average user (4GB) and has an extra empty slot to install another 4GB, which is what I'll be doing, as I am a heavy user3.) Price. I bought mine on Black Friday here on Amazon for $359.99. I probably would have chosen a different laptop if it were above $450.004.) I like the way the keys feel and even the sound of them5.) Hard drive is very quiet and spacious (500GB)6.) An unexpected plus was the HDMI port, which I am glad to have so I can connect it to my TV.7.) The headphone jack is very close to the front (some laptops have it on the back or on the side at the very back)8.) The OneKey Recovery button is a nice addition for restoring the PC9.) I like the LOOK of the textured plastic (but it does FEEL cheap, so it's also a CON)10.) Stays cool on your lap (most powerful laptops I've used tend to get pretty hot and will burn you up)CONS1.) **This is not part of my rating for this product, as it's not Lenovo's fault, but I have to get it off my chest** I can't stress enough how much I literally hate Windows 8. It is the worst operating system I've used in a long time. It's not user friendly at all and it takes 6 clicks to accomplish a task that only took 1 click in Windows 7 and below.2.) No backlit keyboard3.) Lots of bloatware. I researched all the programs installed and ended up uninistalling a majority of them, which sped up the PC considerably.4.) Feels very plastic-y and cheap5.) Fingerprints are horrible on the cover (I'm not quite sure why as the cover is textured and not shiny)6.) The Backspace and Enter keys are way smaller than I am used to. Every time I go to hit the backspace key I end up hitting the next key over, which is quite annoying. I suppose they did this so that they could fit in the full keyboard with the number pad.**Edit: Dec 2014I've now owned this laptop for a solid year and I have no complaints. There have been no hardware defects (*knock on wood*) and I'm still happy with my purchase. It's a good, solid laptop in the < $400 range. It's currently selling for $550, which is a bit much for this model, but if it ever dips below $450, then I'd say it's a good purchase.

I got the version with the Intel i5 processor. For under $500 I feel it was a good buy. I did however need to pay an additional $139 to buy the Student version of MS Office to get full word processing, exel etc. I can't claim to provide any expert evaluation but in my research it seemed to be good value for the money. Initially I contacted Lenovo and was told it was unavailable but looking on Amazon I found numerous versions including this with the better processor and showed the value of using Amazon itself.
