  • Update 11/24: Added a comment
BW & ABAP (Nov 24, 2016) on Amazon
Update 11/24: Added a comment with URL for specs. Discovered today that 8GB memory installed is the maximum capacity offered by the system. That is a little disappointing. Works fine for now, but will know once I start using video editing software.----------------------------------------------I just received this computer an hour ago. Just opened the box and started using it (after initial Win10 setup) and I don't have much information to write a complete review, but I will update this review over next few days as I continue using it.As of today, Amazon page doesn't have much information for this computer, so I am listing what I have found. (Amazon may update the page with more relevant specs later.)This computer is Lenovo Edge 2-1580 Signature Edition with i7-6500U processor, 8 GB memory, and 64-bit Windows 10 Home operating system. The display is multi-touch capable 15.6" screen with 1920x1080 resolution. The lid can open fully and go around the back to make it "appear" like a tablet albeit a very thick one. In order to enable tablet type use, power button and volume control rocker are on the side of the computer base.Keyboard is backlit and it works as expected. Touchpad is quite spacious (4.25" x 2.75") and "mouse buttons" are integral part of the touchpad.Hard disk is 1 TB traditional and no SSD is included. There is only one drive (C:) and I am going to split it into three real soon.No optical drive is provided, One USB 2.0 port and 3 USB 3.0 ports along with one HDMI port are provided. Audio port and memory card reader also exist. So far everything is quite good, look for more updates in the upcoming days/weeks.

Only three weeks of use but up to now I'm happy with this purchase. My previous Lenovo Flex 2 i5 full HD 15.6 was excellent!!! (it is still working great after three years of use without any problem)

  • LaptopTabletThe packaging of this product
Lifestyle By Design (Feb 3, 2017) on Amazon
LaptopTabletThe packaging of this product was superior and it came without a scratch which was a relief. Right out of the box, it had significant heft to it. Considering it is all metallic, this is to be expected I guess. It looks sleek and I love the charcoal color. I didn?t weigh it per say but I think it might tip the scale at about 6lbs ? meaning it is HEAVY. I?d not lug it around everywhere I go just because it is sleek and beautiful unfortunately. It is great to use it in an office space though. The setup was seamless. The tablet to laptop transition was satisfactory - the lid can traverse 360 degrees and the transition from the laptop to a tablet happens automatically then. It is a plus that you can place it on a table folded like a tent (an upside down V) and use it as a tablet this way too (at about 320 degrees) You can also use this angle to view whatever video you are watching. I wouldn?t recommend holding it as a tablet in your hand as it may be too heavy for that. I tried that and in about 15 min I was tired and my arm was feeling it the next day. So I would recommend you use it as a laplet (a tablet placed on your lap or a table). The power button and volume control are on the side of the laptop which is a new. Since there is not much thickness, the power button is really tiny. In a slightly dark room, it might take a few seconds to locate it. Talking about a dark room scenario, the keypad back light DOES NOT light up  I was super bumped about it because this feature would?ve made it so useful to work in bed at night. It lights up when you turn the laptop on but turns off after about 20 seconds or so. I?ve tried every setting and they don?t turn back on permanently. The processor is i7. The display screen is 15.6? which makes it big enough to see things from a distance, 0. 8 GB RAM, 1 TB hard drive(so great storage space!!) and Windows 10 operating system(Meh! Not a big fan of windows 10) . No DVD drive is included but there are 4 USB ports along with one HDMI port so you could connect a DVD player to it if you wanted to.No heavy duty computing or gaming here. Just your basic browsing, working and predominantly watching Amazon Prime videos and Netflix on our bed with this if you have other backups.Watching movies on this is awesome especially because the display is great and there is no lag.Wifi dropped a couple of times but I have a dual band router and I connected both bands to it. Now the drop in wifi is less frequent but I use the laplet(tablet on the lap) for a couple of hours once in 3-4 days. So maybe I?m just lucky that there is no wifi glitch during the time I?m using this product.Overall, Good product. I?d give it 4 stars as it has served its purpose for me. Dock one star due to the expensive price tag.

  • This laptop took me a
    D. Brennan (Nov 30, 2016) on Amazon
This laptop took me a long time to "get right". The baseline hardware is great - a large and sharp screen; 8GB of RAM, multi-touch screen and trackpad, large hard drive (not ssd but still fast), strong aesthetics and a very good speaker system. The tablet and kiosk functionality will be a big plus for road warriors and sales people at trade shows. The problem is that it shipped with a number of drivers that were out of date or buggy. Out of the box here were the problems:1 - wifi would connect for a few seconds and then drop off. A few minutes later Windows couldn't even tell that there was a wifi adapter. It was so bad that the wifi adapter would disappear from the device manager. The built in diagnostics could not solve the problem and the Lenovo update tools offered no fixes. I had to connect the laptop to a wired connection and then use the Device Manager to manually update the wifi adapter. Once I took care of that, wifi performance was great. I checked today and the lenovo website offers a driver update but you still need to manually install it.2 - the trackpad multi-touch functionality didn't work. Another driver update via support.lenovo.com released this week fixed that.3 - pointer/mouse locks up. Every few minutes the pointer would lock up and remain unresponsive for 3-10 seconds. A critical update released yesterday seems to have fixed that problemI point out that Lenovo's built in software tools showed NONE of these device drivers available for download. I had to search them out on the Lenovo website. I have been a systems administrator for 20 years and have rarely had to work so hard to get anew, premium priced, device updated and ready for use.Now that I have these three high priority problems fixed I enjoy using this laptop. It's fast, the touch screen and tablet functionality it great and the large screen makes working at the airport less laborious. If this laptop shipped with functioning hardware I would give it a 5. Unfortunately I think most users will find this device more frustrating than functional.

  • The non-profit I work for
    M. Coehoorn (Feb 28, 2017) on Amazon
The non-profit I work for purchased one of these laptops just over a year ago. Since then we have sent it in for service twice, the second time resulting in a replaced motherboard/processor. The warranty ended last month. And yesterday we found that the housing around the screen is coming apart in the bottom right corner. The screen isn't broken yet, but if we try to close the lid or open it more, the housing splits further apart and pieces of plastic fall out.The computer hasn't been dropped and it has only left the office a couple or three times, in a well padded case on those occasions. There is no reason for this machine to be falling apart, except for cheap manufacturing. But since the machine is 1 month out of warranty, I'm having trouble finding information on who I should call at Lenovo to get help with this. Everything I see is trying to get me to purchase an extension on the warranty (and I'm not going to attempt to talk my boss into spending more money on this machine unless we get some pretty fantastic service from Lenovo).

  • This laptop screen was cracked
June (Jun 6, 2017) on Amazon
This laptop screen was cracked after I put it in the desk and I called Amazon. Amazon said they can repair since I didn't buy the extended warranty and I have to call the manufacture and I did call Lenovo. Lenovo didn't give me any solution for it. I didn't drop the laptop just put it in the desk and open the screen, it's cracked. It's pour quality, no support , and no warranty. Don't buy it!!!They said they made a exception to return after return window was closed so I have to appreciate it.The have charged 20% of restocking fee without telling me in advance and Amazon would decide how much they charge!I would have to pay if they charge even 50%.I am so disappointed with their customer service representative.
