Xiaomi launched its first laptop Mi Notebook Air in July this year, and now the company is already set to launch the successor as well. According to the invite, the new variant is going to be unveiled on December 23 at an event in Beijing.
There is no clarity on what new tweaks the successor will bring; however the invite image shared by GizmoChina indicates that the laptop will support 4G networks. Some reports also indicate that the only new change will be the 4G support, but the event on Friday will clear all doubts once and for all.
Just to recap, Xiaomi announced its long rumoured entry into the PC category, with its first Mi Notebook Air laptop in July. With this laptop, the Chinese company looked to offer its users a cheaper alternative to the relatively expensive MacBook Air.
In July, Xiaomi launched the model in two sizes - 12.5-inches and 13.3-inches. The 12.5-inch display variant is priced at CNY 3,499 (roughly Rs. 35,300), and the 13.3-inch variant is priced at CNY 4,999 (roughly Rs. 51,400). The company will presumably launch two size variants this time as well.
The Xiaomi Mi Notebook Air with a 13.3-inch display bears a full-HD resolution, with a 5.59mm-thick bezel. It is powered by a sixth generation Intel Core i5 processor, coupled with Nvidia GeForce 940MX GPU with 1GB of GDDR5 VRAM, 8GB of DDR4 RAM, and a 256GB PCIe SSD. Xiaomi is claiming a 9.5 hour battery life, with the battery said to charge 50 percent in 30 mins. As for the 12.5-inch Mi Notebook Air, it's said to be 12.9mm thin, and weigh in at 1.07kg. Bearing a full-HD display, it is powered by an Intel Core M3 processor with 4GB of RAM, and a 128GB SATA SSD alongside a second SSD slot. An 11.5-hour battery life is claimed on the smaller variant.
