On the heels of the non-appearance of the new Apple OS yesterday comes fresh rumours that a hardware launch will happen late next week.
AllThingsD reports that Apple will ship the new MacBooks and MacBook Airs by Thursday or Friday. This may be preceded by the Mac OS X Lion which insiders expected to launch yesterday but didn't.
The MacBook Air is expected to have two variants, with base model having an Intel Sandy Bridge processor, 128 GB Solid State Drive and 4 GB of RAM. Besides this the MacBooks will also receive the Thunderbolt and Sandy Bridge treatment and may also see a major price cut.
Apple had previously announced that Lion would launch in July and they now just have to two weeks to make good on their promise.
