Microsoft has made the Consumer Preview of Windows 8, the next major release of its operating system for personal computers, available for download.
Previewing the release at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Microsoft showcased the major new features of the operation system. These include a brand-new interface designed for touch-screen systems, that lets you 'swipe, slide and zoom' to control your apps. Windows 8 also features Windows Store, an app store that lets users buy and download applications.
Also included is the latest version of Internet Explorer, IE 10, that features better than ever support for full-screen browsing. The browser, like other apps, supports touch-based gestures and is designed to be faster than ever before. Microsoft expects technologies like SmartScreen and Tracking Protection to make browsing safer.
Windows 8 is built with native Skydrive support. You can sign-in on any PC, and have your files, videos, photos, contacts as well as settings, available with you.
