While HP launched its 11-inch and 14-inch Chromebooks during the IFA 2014 event in September, it now has quietly slipped out the new high-end version of the same 14-inch model with new features including a touchscreen and needless to say, a higher price tag.

The launch of the Chromebook 14 Touch (also known as Chromebook 14 G3) comes as a follow up to HP's announcement in September of introducing a full-HD display Chromebook in the coming months.

Available to buy at $439.99 (roughly Rs. 27,800) from the US store (via The Verge), the new HP Chromebook 14-x050nr Touch comes with some notable changes including a 14-inch full-HD (1080x1920 pixel) resolution WLED-backlit touchscreen display, 4GB of DDR3 RAM and 32GB of inbuilt storage. Rest of the specifications are similar to the original 14-inch Chromebook announced previously.

To recall, the original 14-inch HP Chromebook features a 14-inch HD (768x1366 pixel) resolution display (non-touchscreen), Nvidia Tegra K1 processor (same), 16GB inbuilt storage, 2GB of DDR3L RAM and Nvidia Kepler GPU (same). The connectivity features including USB 3.0, HDMI port, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 are also similar.

The newly-announced 14-inch Chromebook 14 Touch is one of the heavier Chromebook models (roughly 1.7kg) in the market, and significantly heavier than the lightweight Chromebook models announced by the PC maker firm in September. The Chrome OS-based laptop is available in Black and Silver colour variants with no availability details for its India launch.

Last month, Google announced 1TB of cloud storage free of cost for new Chromebook buyers. Google said that the 1TB subscription, which will be valid for two years, is worth $240 (roughly Rs. 15,200).
