HP announces Windows 8 ready Envy, Pavilion and Spectre All-in-One PCs

HP has just previewed its upcoming Windows 8 devices in the form of the HP Spectre One, HP Envy 23, HP Envy 20 TouchSmart and the HP Pavilion 20 which are set to launch this fall. These devices boast multi-touch screens (excluding the Spectre One) and NFC capabilities as well.

The HP Spectre One leads the line-up with a 23.6-inch full HD non-touch display. But users can still experience multi-touch courtesy the bundled in wireless trackpad and a wireless keyboard as well. The Spectre One claims to be the thinnest all-in-one from the company yet at merely 11.5mm thick.

The light-weight touchpad resembles the silver look of the desktop. Both the wireless touchpad and the keyboard do not require a proprietary dongle to pair with the PC, allowing the USB ports on the PC for other use.

Speaking of ports, the desktop includes two USB 2.0 ports, two USB 3.0 ports and an HDMI connector. Users equipped with an NFC-enabled smartphone will be able to transfer media, contacts and other data on to the Spectre One by simply tapping the phone to the base of the computer.

Users can also make use of a few company provided small NFC tags that can be configured to log in to Windows or direct you to a particular website.

The Spectre One will feature Intel's latest Ivy Bridge processors and come with a 1GB Nvidia graphics card. HP will also be bundling Adobe Photoshop Elements and Premiere Elements.

Configuration options include with as much as 2TB of storage and a solid-state drive for faster boot-up times. The machine, however lacks a disc drive, a feature that is key to desktops. The Spectre One will be available in November and starts at $1,299.

Coming to the other announcements, The HP Envy 23 and Envy 20 Touchsmart will offer 23-inch and 20-inch HD touch screens respectively. They're more compact in design in comparison to the Spectre One.

The two machines offer 3rd generation Intel processors and can be built with up to 3TB of storage and solid-state drives. The HP Envy 23 Touchsmart is priced starting $999, while the Envy 20 costs $799 and up. Both are scheduled for an October release.

Lastly, users also can opt for the more budget-friendly HP Pavilion 20. It sports a 20-inch HD non-touch display. with up to 2TB of storage and processor choices between Intel or AMD. It is priced at starting $499 and will be available in October.
