Dell at CES 2018 on Tuesday brought the refreshed lines of its Latitude 5000 and Latitude 7000 series. The upgraded range includes the Dell Latitude 7490, Latitude 7390, Latitude 7390 2-in-1, Latitude 7290, Latitude 5590, Latitude 5490, Latitude 5290, and the Latitude 5290 2-in-1. All the new notebooks come with up to eighth-generation Intel Core i7 processor option. The company also launched the Dell SD1-T0500 and SD1-T1000 SSDs that are touted to be the world's most compact Thunderbolt 3 storage devices.

The Dell Latitude 5490 and Latitude 5590 come with a price tag of $779 (approximately Rs. 49,600) and the Dell Latitude 5290 is priced at $829 (around Rs. 52,800). On the other hand, the Dell Latitude 7390 is priced at $1,149 (approximately Rs. 73,160), while the Latitude 7290 and Latitude 7490 are at $1,049 (roughly Rs. 66,800). All these models are already available for purchase in the US. However, the company is yet to announce their availability and prices in India.

Among other models, the Dell Latitude 5290 features a 12.5-inch HD (1366x768 pixels) Anti-Glare WLED display with carbon fibre polymer LCD back. The Dell Latitude 5490, on the other hand, comes with 14-inch HD WLED, 14-inch FHD WVA, and 14-inch FHD WVA touchscreen display options, while the Dell Latitude 5590 is available in 15.6-inch HD WLED, 15.6-inch FHD WVA, and 15.6-inch FHD WVA touchscreen display options. All the models under the Latitude 5000 series have two memory slots supporting DDR4 at 2400MHz frequency. There are storage options including up to 1TB HD or a hybrid drive as well as M.2 SSD and 1TB PCIe/NVMe drive. Further, the upgraded notebook family has an Nvidia GeForce MX130 and Intel HD/UHD 620 graphics options. In terms of connectivity, there is LTE-A, 802.11ac dual band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth v4.1, two USB Type-C ports, and a USB 3.1 port.

Contrary to the Latitude 5000 series, the Dell 7290 line features a 12.5-inch HD (1366x768 pixels) WLED display, while the Dell 7390 has 13.3-inch FHD WVA (1920x1080 pixels) Anti-Glare display with 16:9 aspect ratio. The latter has optional touchscreen integration that comes with magnesium alloy LCD back and narrow border carbon-fibre reinforced polymer LCD back options. The entire refreshed Latitude 7000 series has two memory slots to support up to 32GB RAM and premium storage options such as two M.2 options (512GB SATA and 128GB PCIe), 1TB PCIe NVMe SSD, and 512GB PCIe NVMe drives. Further, there are Intel HD and UHD 620 graphics options.

The upgraded Dell Latitude 7000 series comes with 64-bit Windows 10 Pro, Windows 10 Home, and Ubuntu 16.04 LTS operating system options. On the connectivity front, the notebooks have LTE-A, 802.11ac dual band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth v4.1, USB Type-C, HDMI 1.4, optional Thunderbolt 3, 3.5mm headphone jack, and two USB 3.1 (generation 1). The new models also have options such as a SmartCard reader and a fingerprint reader. Moreover, there are battery options including 42 WHr Prismatic, 60 WHr Polymer, and 60 WHr Long-life Polymer - all with Dell's ExpressCharge technology. The 7000 series notebooks are touted to last for a day on a single charge.

Supporting multiple modes to transform from a laptop to a tablet, Dell has designed the Latitude 5290 2-in-1 and Latitude 7390 2-in-1 models with Corning Gorilla Glass 4 protection. The Latitude 5290 2-in-1 sports a 12.3-inch FHD WVA touchscreen panel with an anti-reflective and anti-smudge coating, whereas the Latitude 7390 comes with a 13.3-inch FHD touchscreen panel. Both the model come with an optional Active Pen support that uses Wacom technology to enable "natural writing" experience. There is also a single pointing backlit keyboard with dual-button Microsoft Precision touchpad and 1.65mm key travel. Besides, the 2-in-1 Dell Latitude models have an array of sensors, including Gyroscope, eCompass/Magnetometer, and Accelerometer.

Alongside the refreshed Latitude lines, Dell has the new portable SSD that comes in two models - Dell SD1-T0500 with 500GB and Dell SD1-T1000 with 1TB storage. Both the models have an identical design that has a minimal thickness of 16mm but offer transfer speeds of up to 2650MBps. The drive has Thunderbolt 3 port that also works with devices supporting USB Type-C. Moreover, the SSD measures 98.8mmx19mmx48mm.

The 500GB Dell SD-T0500 comes with a price tag of $439 (approximately Rs. 22,200), while the 1TB SD1-T1000 is priced at $799 (roughly Rs. 50,900). Both the models will be available starting February.

At the CES in Las Vegas, Dell also launched the VR-ready Inspiron gaming desktop and new XPS 15 2-in-1 with an Intel chip that has AMD graphics integration. The company also launched the refreshed XPS 13 earlier this month that is claimed to deliver up to 20 hours of battery life.
