Asus has unveiled the Transformer Book Trio, a three-in-onemobile device. The device offers dual operating systems and can be used as anAndroid tablet, Windows 8 desktop and a Windows 8 notebook.
The 11.6-inch tablet is powered by a 2.0GHz Intel Atomprocessor and a 16:9 aspect ratio IPS display with full HD 1920x1080 resolutionand up to 64GB storage. The tablet can be docked as on the PC Station dock thathas its own 4th generation Intel Core i7 processor, keyboard and 750GB harddrive. With the tablet display detached, the PC Station can also be connectedto an external display for use as a desktop PC. The PC Station also serves as acharger for the tablet.
The dual OS offering of the device happens to be similar toits Transformer AiO that was recently launched in India. The option to switch between the two operating systems also works ina similar fashion. The device like the Transformer AiO has a physical hotkeythat acts as a toggle between Windows 8 and Android Jelly Bean. However, onceunplugged from the dock, the tablet only operates on Android Jelly Bean.
With the dual OS option, one will have access to both theGoogle Play Store and the Windows Store for downloading applications on thedevice. Despite the two different operating systems, Asus claims that thetransition between the two operating systems as well as the tablet and notebookmode is smooth.
Along with the Transformer Trio, Asus also launched the AsusTransformer Pad Infinity Tablet, Asus Fonepad Note FHD 6 and the Asus MeMO PadHD 7 at Computex 2013.
