Asus India has just launched the VivoBook S550CM ultrabook with an optical drive for Rs. 57,999.
The ASUS VivoBook S550 sports a 15.6-inch HD LCD (1366x768) display and features an HD webcam as well. The ultrabook is powered by 3rd-generation Intel Core i5-3317U (dual-core, HT, 1.7GHz, up to 2.6GHz5) and NVIDIA GeForce GT 635M graphics with DirectX 11 compatibility.
It has up to 4GB of dedicated DDR3 video memory and also comes with a 750GB hard drive rated at 5400 rpm, along with a 24GB SSD.
The Windows 8-based device also boasts the ASUS Super Hybrid Engine II technology that offers instant wake up from sleep or hibernate modes and with energy-conserving design goes into standby for up to two weeks.
The ASUS VivoBook S550 comes with a free 32GB of WebStorage cloud space for three years.
Furthermore, the ASUS Smart Gesture technology powering the large touchpad on the ultrabook claims to offer improved touch input, with quicker and more precise gesture detection and a wider range of supported motions. It comes with a 4-cell 3,000mAh battery, 1 USB 3.0 and an HDMI port and supports Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity.
