Computer chip maker AMD on Thursday launched its powerful workstation graphics solutions line AMD FirePro priced between Rs. 45,000 and Rs. 3,00,000 in the country.

"Our new line of workstation graphics helps deliver exceptional graphics experience to the workstation market," AMD Senior Manager Product Management Workstation Graphics Glen Matthews told reporters.

Workstation market verticals include computer-aided design and engineering, media and entertainment, medical imaging and financial services, he added.

A graphics card is an expansion card used to enhance the quality of display on a computing device or connect multiple monitors (multi-monitor). It is especially used by gamers and designers.

Among the graphic cards launched, the company said AMD FirePro W9000 GPU is the most powerful workstation graphics card ever created.

"It features incredible compute, increased memory bandwidth and greater multi-display support performance than the competing solution," AMD said.

Other workstation graphics cards launched included W8000, W7000, W5000.

Besides, the company also launched AMD FirePro Accelerated Processing Unit (APU) that "provides a powerful integrated visual computing platform for CAD (computer-aided design) and media and entertainment workflows."

"The new AMD FirePro workstation graphics cards bring a range of features and capabilities for professionals working in digital signage, broadcast graphics, CAD and M&E, delivering the ideal balance of power, performance and reliability at the right price point," AMD Senior Director, Engineering WS Graphics David Cummings said.

India is the first market in Asia-Pacific where AMD has launched FirePro graphics solutions. "We will soon be launching them in China and Japan as well," AMD India Country Head for Professional Graphics Anish Pandey said.
