YouTube has got a brand new look that is designed to give the ever-growing channels and subscriptions features a more prominent place.
YouTube is also
expanding the scope of the Guide feature introduced last year to make it available across a wide variety of devices.
Just subscribe to your favorite channels and the Guide lets you know when there are new videos waiting for you to enjoy, suggests the latest and greatest channels you might like, and shows you what your friends are sharing across the web. You'll also find the Guide and your subscriptions on apps across hundreds of millions of devices including Android, iPhone, Playstation 3, Google TV and more.
The video page itself has been designed to feature the video more prominently on the page with the subscribe button, social actions and video information all combined directly below the player. Playlists are now available to the right of the video, while the left features the Guide containing a menu with options like "Popular on YouTube" and categories like "Music", "Sport", "Gaming", "Films" and "TV Shows".
If the user is signed in to
YouTube, the guide also features subscribed channels and recommendations for other channels to subscribe. The bottom of the left side features more videos from the uploader of the current video being watched.
Earlier this week, Google
updated the YouTube app for iOS. The app now features an interface optimised for the iPad, iPhone 5 and includes other new features like AirPlay support.
