Now users live-streaming on Twitch can extend their reach to a larger audience, with the introduction of the Twitch Live Annotations for YouTube feature.
Assuming the Twitch live-stream hosts have their own YouTube channels, the feature will come in quite handy. With Twitch Live Annotations for YouTube, a pop-up will display across all of the channel owner's YouTube videos as soon as the linked user's live stream begins on Twitch. Users who are watching the YouTube videos will be alerted, and can click on the annotation to directly jump to the channel owner's live streaming Twitch video.
Twitch made an official announcement for the same on its blog post stating "You can already manage your Twitch account so that your Twitch, Twitter, and Facebook followers are alerted when you begin a broadcast. Now, we're excited to introduce a powerful new way to alert your audience: Twitch Live Annotations for YouTube."
To exploit Twitch's Live Annotations feature, users would have to link their Twitch accounts to YouTube accounts by going in the Twitch's Connections Page and then opting for the "Live Annotations" option.
It is worth noting that the Live Annotations do not stack on any of the user's existing annotations on YouTube videos. The Twitch's Live Annotation would appear second in line after the already scheduled annotations on YouTube.
Google since last month has been said to have been in talks to buy the Twitch service, with no word on the agreement details. Reports say that the size of the deal could not be learned and discussions between the parties were at an early stage. In addition, the company was said to be looking at raising additional funding instead of selling itself.
