Mozilla has plenty of interesting things cooking over at its labs. The latest to come out of this little factory of innovation is a project called TowTruck.

TowTruck is a service that you can use to add real-time collaboration to any website. These collaboration features include real-time authoring, which gives two or more people the ability to work, on say a blog post, at the same time and see changes made instantly. Also included are real-time text and voice chat capabilities, that lets you share stuff or talk to other visitors in real-time, from within the browser.

Like other Mozilla Labs projects, TowTruck is purely experimental at this point in time, and comes with a warning that says exactly that: "TowTruck is alpha-quality software. We do not recommend using it in production at this time." However, if you are willing to experiment a bit, adding TowTruck support to your website is as easy as including two lines of code. Once added, users will see a Call TowTruck button on the webpage.

Collaborating with other users via TowTruck is pretty simple as well. Simply click on the Call TowTruck and share the resultant TowTruck link with a friend. As soon as your friend clicks on that link, a notification will pop up on your screen and you can start collaborating.

A picture's worth a thousand words, and a video a lot more - to catch a glimpse of the power and simplicity of TowTruck, be sure to watch this demo. If you're sufficiently impressed, you can head over to the TowTruck website and try it out today.
