Realty portal Housing.com on Monday re-introduced rentals offerings on its website. To recall, the company had pulled the plug on the rental offering in 2015 saying that it would only focus on the home-buying segment.
With the relaunch, the website claims to have over 60,000 verified units listed for rental. The real estate listings platform however has plans to increase this number to 200,000 in next three months.
Housing.com in a press statement says that the entire idea of bringing back the rental offering on the portal is to address the issue of finding homes for rent in metros and major cities.
Announcing the rental offering, Mani Rangarajan, Chief Business Officer, Platform Business Unit, Housing.com said, "Renting a house is the first step for most individuals towards living independently and eventually buying a home which makes it a critical part of the home-buying life-cycle. The reintroduction of rentals is a very strategic decision for us, both from a brand salience and business perspective. We are certain that this step will take us closer to our objective of becoming the preferred real estate platform for everyone looking for a home."
The company says that the rental feature has received some enhancements like the 'Activity' feature which will keep track of agents a user contacts and also takes feedback to ensure availability of listed homes. Users will now be able to keep track of messages to agents directly from the website. Housing.com has also revealed plans to launch apps with new features and functionality for rental offerings.
"Housing.com's rental offering was one of the most evolved and leading solutions in the segment, and the number of verified units we have listed at the outset is a testimonial to that. That being said, we are working towards improving our offering with the objective of adding more value to our users, and would be rolling out some exciting new products features in the days to come," said Ravi Bhushan, Chief Product and Technology Officer, PropTiger.com, Housing.com and Makaan.com.
