Leading e-commerce website Flipkart has followed Amazon India's lead in introducing guaranteed one-day shipping in select cities across the country.

According to information available on the company's website, customers placing their orders before 6pm have the option to get it delivered to their preferred address the next business day for an additional cost of Rs. 90 per item by selecting the 'In-a-day Guarantee' option during checkout. The offer is initially available to customers in Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Noida and Pune. Customers can enter their PIN code on the Flipkart website to check availability of In-a-day delivery in their region.

If a product is not delivered within the promised time, Flipkart will refund the amount charged for shipping back to customer's Flipkart Wallet. As you would expect, Flipkart defines working day as Monday to Saturday with Sundays and public holidays not included. Additionally, the In-a-day Guarantee is only available for products sold by seller WS Retail. The company also says that not all products may be available for delivery next-day due to logistical reasons - customers will see the expected date of delivery while placing the order.

Last week, Amazon.in introduced guaranteed one-day delivery option for Rs. 99 per order in Bangalore, Mumbai, New Delhi, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad and Pune. The company also offers guaranteed two-day delivery for Rs. 79 per order (Rs. 49 as of writing this post under a limited period offer).

One key difference between the two offerings is that while Flipkart's one-day delivery is Rs. 90 per item, Amazon's is Rs. 99 per order.
