Amazon.in, Amazon's Indian online store, has added two new product categories, namely, fashion jewellery and watches.
The company says its fashion jewellery section offers more than 22,000 styles and designs across necklaces, earrings, rings, bracelets, jewellery sets, anklets, cufflinks and other products with prices starting as low as Rs. 49.
It says the section has been curated in close partnership with designers, stylists and merchants and allows customers to shop across designs by different styles including Work, casual, Party, Ethnic, Formal, and by collections such as Pearl, Silver, and Traditional. Amazon.in also features a Designer section that offers jewellery from various designers.
Amazon claims that its fashion jewellery section on its India portal offers products from over 130 brands including established brands like Gitanjali, Peora, Diovanni, Pretty Women, Sia, Toniq and exclusive offerings from designer brands.
The online retail giant adds that the watches section offers over 5,500 products from more than 50 leading brands including Casio, Timex, Titan, Fastrack, Fossil, Esprit, Tommy Hilfiger, Sonata, Citizen, Disney, Diesel, DKNY, Guess and others. The Amazon.in watch section features timepieces for men, women and children, across fashion, dress, casual, sports, and classic ranges.
Following the addition of these product categories, Amazon.in now competes on a more even footing with Indian ecommerce sites like Flipkart, HomeShop 18 and Indiatimes.
Just like other Amazon.in product sections, the new categories feature detailed product descriptions, options to shortlist products by features, customer reviews from Amazon.com, and personalised recommendations for products.
Amazon will offer these products from retailers like Kamdar & Kamdar and Gitanjali, among others, using Fulfillment by Amazon, offering customers cash on delivery, free returns pickup, an delivery tracking to the doorstep.
Amazon.in now boasts of a large selection of products across eleven categories including over 9 million books, more than 95,000 products from hundreds of brands, and over 1.7 million ebooks, from 500 plus retailers, the company informed.
"We are thrilled to offer India's largest selection of fashion jewellery and watches in one place, and bring the Amazon experience to customers - vast selection, low prices, convenient and trustworthy shopping," said Amit Agarwal, Vice President and Country Manager, Amazon India. "We are especially excited to start serving fashion designers and boutique stores of all sizes in India by providing them with nationwide platform to showcase their creations."
