Amazon launched its Pantry grocery box service to Hyderabad in September this year. As a part of this service, the company allows users to shop for over 4,000 everyday essentials such as groceries and household products, which are delivered to their doorstep the following day. The company has now expanded this service to Bengaluru.
To place an order through Amazon Pantry, the users have to fill up a virtual box (each box can hold up to 15kg or 3 cubic feet of products), which keeps on updating the user with the amount of space left in it, with groceries or other household products. However, customers don't necessarily have to fill the entire box before placing an order. The box is then delivered to the customer's house the following day.
As a part of company's promotional offer, Amazon Prime members are not required to pay the shipping charges but the regular customers will have to pay additional Rs. 20 for shipping.
Amazon launched its premium subscription service - Amazon Prime - for India in July. In India, the Prime service is available with unlimited one-day and two-day deliveries with no minimum order size. The service also provides early access to some deals on Amazon. Moreover there are some exclusive deals available only for Prime members.
Amazon has said that the company is planning to expand the Pantry service to other cities in the coming months.
