Amazon India has introduced the #AmazonCart feature for Indian consumers. The latest shopping feature allows Twitter users to select items for purchase on the online retail site without leaving the micro-blogging site.

Initially announced in May, the #AmazonCart feature allows shoppers to link their Twitter and Amazon accounts for in-app purchases. It actually allows consumers to add an item to the cart right from Twitter, while they can purchase it anytime. The popular Internet retailer's #AmazonCart has a tagline, "Add it now. Buy it later. Shop from within Twitter."

Consumers wanting to use the #AmazonCart feature will have to first connect their Twitter account to Amazon. Next, when a tweet by Amazon appears on the feed with an Amazon.in product link; users will have to reply with #AmazonCart to add it to the cart, and then can check-out when they are ready.

Amazon India announced the feature on Twitter and said, "Add it now. Buy it later. Introducing #AmazonCart - give it a try!"

The #AmazonCart feature was initially made available for customers of Amazon in the United States and in Britain, where it was called #AmazonBasket.

While announcing the #AmazonCart feature in May, the company's spokeswoman Julie Law, in a statement, explained the process: "It's simple. When a customer discovers a tweet from their favorite artist, expert, brand, or friend with an Amazon.com product link, they simply add '#AmazonCart' to their reply on Twitter and the product is added to their Amazon.com Shopping Cart. Customers who have not connected their Twitter and Amazon.com accounts will receive a reply tweet asking them to connect their accounts to enable the new feature."
