Personally Tech is a weekly column in which we look at the apps and gadgets that people love and can't live without. We talk to people from all walks of life about the technology that drives them, and this week, we caught up with Parag Arora, Country Manager, Citrix India.
Arora probably never falls sick, since he has enough Apple devices to keep the doctor away through the week, but while he loves "iEverything" he dreams of better battery life. Read on to know more about the apps and gadgets that he depends upon:
Describe your technology setup - what computer/ phone/ tablet/ camera/ gaming console/ other gadgets do you use?
Parag Arora: I am surrounded by my iMac, iPhone 5s, iPad Air, Apple TV and I have an iPod Touch 4th gen. which is my companion during running. Aside from that, I have my Kindle Paperwhite, a thin client for my virtual desktop, and my Flip camera for recording /playing video.
What are three apps (mobile/ tablet or PC/ Mac) you couldn't live without?
Parag Arora: The first and foremost is Citrix Worx Home. It enables my corporate app store, email and other interesting office productivity apps on my iPhone and iPad
Flipboard is my integrated information bank for all types of news and social media updates. I believe in simplicity and this app enables me to access everything while breaking free from the clutter of multiple apps.
Gaana is my preferred app for listening and downloading music, and it's another app I can't do without.
What is one gadget (other than your phone) you never travel without?
Parag Arora: My backup battery and my Kindle.
What is your dream gadget/ technology setup?
Parag Arora: A world where all my devices are wirelessly connected, have a great battery life, have one common console (for all devices) to manage apps, data, videos, music, collaboration. Touch and voice enabled devices with provisions to convert text to audio and vice versa and a simple interface to connect with my executives
How has technology changed the way in which you work?
Parag Arora: Citrix has redefined the meaning of "workplace" for me. Work is no more a place, but rather become an aggregation of experiences of collaborating and communicating whenever and wherever I wish to. I believe this has brought in tremendous amount of freedom and at the same time helped me be more creative and effective. Since my work is not limited by my location, it allows me to be more agile and responsive to the needs of our customers, partners and my teams
