HP 7 Plus User Reviews and Ratings

I'm making a direct comparison to a new Toshiba Excite 7 which has the same Android OS 4.2.2 and the same memory and A7 processor. The price is approximately the same for the HP Plus and the Toshiba.1) The HP comes with both front and rear cameras, while the Toshiba only has a camera facing the user. The HP has no flash.2) The HP is slightly thinner than the Toshiba.3) The HP has a very slippery case, while the Toshiba has a dimpled surface that is easier and more comfortable to hold.4) The HP screen was not fully seated into the case and it snapped into place while I was examining it. The Toshiba had no issues with construction quality.5) The HP (listed as white) has a silver back and a white bezel. The white is somewhat distracting. The Toshiba (listed as black) has a silver back and a black bezel.6) The HP has a screen that is more reflective (more glare) and doesn't show smudges as much as the Toshiba. The Toshiba screen is less reflective.7) The HP doesn't register scrolling very well, particularly at the edges. The Toshiba scrolls well at any location on the screen. I tested pulling down the tools menu from the upper right corner. The Toshiba had 10/10 success at this, but the HP only had a 2/10 success rate. However both were equally successful when interacting with the center of the display. The HP eems to detect taps a little better than the Toshiba.8) The HP has more neutral grays, while the Toshiba has more violet appearing grays (both with and without Smartcolor turned on).9) Blue hues on the HP appear to lean toward the greenish side, while the Toshiba blues appear to lean to the violet side,10) The HP is lower in contrast at all brightness levels, while the Toshiba contrast was perfect across a wide range of brightness levels.11) The HP needed to be set to a brightness of about 75% for good usability, while the Toshiba looked best at 40%. Curiously the entire lower half of the HP screen is slighly darker than the upper half, and there is a noticable demarcation line depending on the image.12) I ran my own app which I coded myself and which uses localstorage memory. Both the HP and the Toshiba performed well. The Toshiba seemed to access memory slightly faster, which may be due to differences in the HP and Toshiba OS overlays. However, both tablets did very well with my software and accessing memory.13) The HP has apps installed for phone calling (pay calls), while the Toshiba had none installed. The HP has a nice selection of installed apps, but I'll never use most of them.14) The HP has an accelerometer, but the Toshiba has none.15) The HP has no bluetooth, but the Toshiba has bluetooth.16) The HP has a better wifi receiver than the Toshiba.17) The HP speaker sounds tinny, but the Toshiba speaker is more mellow and sounds better.18) The HP notification sounds are much louder than the Toshiba (all sound settings @ 100%).19) The HP microphone sounds slightly better than the Toshiba, but both are rather poor.In summary, I think the HP has more value than the Toshiba because it has 2 cameras and the wifi range is MUCH better. Also the color display is more realistic without the added violet cast that the Toshiba has. The Toshiba however has a better screen for reading b/w text. The Toshiba also has a more comfortable case to hold and is less likely to dropped.

Purchased this product for my son after going thru all those cheaper so called tablets & he said the games look sharp in color & the sound is loud, believe me it's loud without hearing crackling! The only issue I have as an adult would be when you are typing in say a Web address my fingers hit 2 letters at the same time, I don't have as ppl would say sausage fingers, I believe this would happen to any adult, it maybe something I need to fix on my part but I just wanted to put that out there though. Still rating at 5 because it made my son happy!!

I made a good buy. So far it has been the best purchase I have made. Good price, and especially that suits my current needs. Benefits which contains the HP 7plus are wonderful for the price of purchase.

I have tried 4 other brands of tablet (RCA, NextBook, Dell, Maylong) and all were quite disappointing some sooner than later.I love this table the image is superb, I used it to watch Netflix, browser online, and play games and I am really happy with this HP tablet because I love that I can put in my purse and just take it anywhere. This an tablet is very versatile excellent for kids, teens, or adults.

I am very impressed with this tablet! Ultra thin and light weight and the size screen is just right. Right out of the box the tablet set up with ease. Access to apps and Google mail is simple. Protective plastic comes off and there is also an attached protective screen cover already on the tablet! No need to purchase one. The A7 Quad processor is lightning fast. Pages download quick. Compared to my apple ipad-2, this little guy is 25% faster. The front and rear cameras are a plus, especially when taking selfies. I am able to print directly to my HP wireless printer with ease. Storage of 8GB with the option of installing a micros SD card to add another 32GB. Has full Google services! I had to download the app for PDF files (Acrobat) and am still trying to locate an app to open .rtf files. The only con's I can list are the battery life, which is about 5 hours. Found that I had to already charge it up twice within 3 days. The AC power cord to micro usb is very short. I would suggest purchasing a longer cord, especially if you need to run the tablet off of AC power. The stereo speakers are a plus with great sound quality as is the HD screen which provides unbelievable clarity. This so far has is an unbelievable tablet that is very easy to operate. Compact to fit anywhere and very sleek in design. Instant wireless access to any router! The price at around $99.00 is well worth it for a brand name tablet. 7-31-14; Still enjoying this tablet very much. I was able to load more apps and email's along with Netflix. The picture/movie quality is unbelievable. Agai, for the price this is an excellent tablet. I will post updates as I continue to use it. I did download Avast virus protection (App) as the unit does not come with protection.

Very good tablet! Was looking at the 50$ tablets and decided to spend the extra 50 on a good name brand in HP. Worth every penny! Inexpensive tablet that does everything you want! Would recommend this!

The HP 7 is a great tablet, considering the price. It's a shame HP hasn't released the KitKat 4.4 for it. Other than that, it's a good budget tablet.

I got this tablet for my 7yr old 's birthday.. I didn't want to spend too much money because it is for a child. I definitely love this tablet. I haven't had any problems with it at all. It came when it was supposed to. She literally uses it every day. No complaints at all. Would recommend to anyone else.

We purchased this tablet for our 8 yr old grandson. We had purchased several cheaper ones ($50-$75) prior to this purchase, but those were poorly made and either didn't work properly out of the box or stopped working in several days, so had to be returned.THIS ONE is a completely different story!! Right out of the box I noticed a slightly heavier, studier feel to the tablet. It started right up, loaded the Apps very well (as it should) and has been running great ever since (2 months in now). Our grandson is thrilled with it!!Sometimes you just have to pay a little bit more to get something worth having, and this was the case.

This is a great tablet. I most definitely got my money's worth with this tablet! I can easily and seamlessly have several applications open and running at once. It plays games flawlessly; anything from candy crush to The Wolf Among us, it even runs emulators awesomely. The screen resolution is very crisp and clear. The only bad is the cameras which I knew going into purchasing this they aren't the best and the speaker on the tablet itself is a bit tiny sounding tho when you have headphones in its just fine. Overall for the money this tablet is great!
