Sprih Raises $3 Million to Expand Global Footprint in Carbon Emission Management

Sprih, a carbon emission management platform, has secured a $3 million funding round led by Leo Capital, focusing on global expansion and AI model development for climate issues. Co-founder Akash Keshav stated their aim to centralise climate data and invest in research and product development. Founded in 2022, Sprih offers end-to-end software for measuring and reporting emissions. With plans to grow in India and enter the US, Europe, and other markets, they aim to serve 40-50 customers globally this year. Ravi Srivastava of Leo Capital emphasised the importance of sustainability in business growth. This investment underscores a growing trend in climate tech funding, exemplified by recent financings in the sector.

Government Allocates Rs 2,000 Crore to AI Startups

The India AI Mission, recently approved by the Cabinet with a budget of Rs 10,372 crore over five years, aims to propel AI development in the nation. A significant portion, over Rs 2,000 crore, will be dedicated to funding AI-related startups, with rollout scheduled from April 1. Jitendra Vijay, CEO of Meity Startup Hub (MSH), highlighted efforts to support startups, emphasising collaboration with incubators and centres of excellence nationwide. While acknowledging the importance of private funding, Vijay emphasised the government's role in nurturing the ecosystem, particularly in smaller towns. The initiative aims to leverage domestic investment to fuel growth in India's startup landscape, ensuring sustainable development.

PM Modi Lauds India's Startup Surge at 'Startup Mahakumbh' 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, addressing the Startup Mahakumbh, hailed India's exceptional progress in startups, marking it as crucial amidst the roadmap to a developed India by 2047. Despite challenges, the innovation and startup culture flourish, distinguishing India on the global map. Modi commended the organisers for their foresight in hosting such a grand event post-election, affirming their anticipation of India's trajectory. Key highlights included the empowerment of women in startups, with over 45% in leadership roles, and India boasting 1.25 lakh startups and 110 unicorns. The Startup India initiative and a Rs 1 lakh crore fund underscored India's commitment to innovation. The Mahakumbh, themed 'Bharat Innovates,' convened over 2000 startups, 1000+ investors, and myriad stakeholders, fostering dialogue and networking.
