India's startup landscape shines with over 8,000 ventures led by women, accumulating a remarkable $23 billion in funding, as per a recent report by Tracxn. Representing over 18 percent of the tech startup sphere, female-led enterprises have secured over 14 percent of total funding. Delhi-NCR emerges as a hotspot for such startups, closely followed by Bengaluru and Mumbai. While 2,000 of these startups have received funding, around 6,000 remain unfunded, with 590 reporting revenue surpassing $30,000. Notably, the share of funding garnered by women-led startups has been steadily rising, accounting for over 15 percent of India's total startup funding from 2020 to 2022. The momentum continues, with $100 million raised in the first two months of 2024.

A Mumbai startup has unveiled a groundbreaking aqueous-based carbon capture technology, poised to propel India towards its net-zero targets. Developed by UrjanovaC, nurtured by IIT Bombay, the innovation can efficiently capture CO2 from industrial flue gas and ambient air, using non-potable water. Co-founded by Vikram Vishal and Arnab Dutta, faculty members at IIT Bombay, the technology promises sustainable CO2 removal, with the captured CO2 convertible to high-value minerals. Supported by the National Centre of Excellence in Carbon Capture and Utilisation (NCoE-CCU) at IIT Bombay, the initiative aligns with India's ambitious goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2070. The team is set to deploy their first three-tonnes-per-day CO2 capture pilot at IIT Bombay.
