One of the interesting aspects of Quantum Break's story is its live-action TV show that fleshes out the backgrounds and motivations of its all-star cast. This is of course in addition to the host of story-telling techniques the game utilises. While the commitment to building a believable narrative and relatable characters is commendable, its delivery is not. Reason being, in order to view these live-action TV shows that bookmark each act of the game, you'll be streaming them in 1080p on the Xbox One or 4K on Windows 10 PC.
The game's developer, Remedy Entertainment claimed that Xbox One owners would be able to download the live-action videos before the game hits. On booting up our Xbox One we noticed that the files are already available for download. Labelled as the Quantum Break Episode Pack, it weighs in at 75GB - the size of almost two entire games on the Xbox One. Although each episode is around 20 minutes, different versions of each video exist taking into account your choices before the game decides which version of an episode to show you.
As for the file size of the game itself, that's around 45GB. This makes for a combined 120GB of data should you wish not to be at the mercy of Microsoft's servers. Throw in the fact that a 500GB Xbox One has approximately 362GB free and you'll realise that a third of your storage space will be occupied by a single game.
What's worse is if you buy the game on disc, you won't have the TV episodes on it. So if you want the complete Quantum Break experience you'll either have to stream them in 1080p or download them before playing. Neither of which seem like feasible solutions for those who do not have the bandwidth to spare.
Spare a thought for those who want to play the game on Windows 10 PC. The videos are in 4K and there will only be a streaming option available according to Remedy.
