It seems that the Xbox One X finally has a release date for India. Microsoft India has sent out invites decked out in a shade of green that’s been a part of the Xbox brand since its inception with a date of January 23.
Meanwhile, multiple sources in the supply chain speaking to Gadgets 360 have confirmed that January 23 is indeed the release date of the Xbox One X console in India. We've reached out to Microsoft India for comment and will update this story if we hear from the company.
Previously, the Xbox One X was listed for a January 15 release date on the official Xbox website. Our sources have confirmed that this was an error on Microsoft India’s part. At the time it was still gauging retailer interest and supply requirements. The Xbox One X is still expected to have the same price of Rs. 44,990 as Gadgets 360 reported earlier.
Considering that Sony has had supply issues with the PS4 Pro in India, it's nice to see Microsoft release the Xbox One X in a manner that's not too distant from its launch globally. Previously, the Xbox One S launched in India almost a year and a half after it hit internationally.
For what it's worth we reviewed the Xbox One X around the time of its international launch. If you own a 4K TV or plan to get one and have a good enough Internet connection, it’s definitely a superlative option right now. Though we're not too sure if this holds true buying it officially as it's at a Rs. 12,000 premium over its price internationally.
Having said that, if you already own a PS4 Pro or a PS4, it could shape up to be a decent complementary system provided more developers support it in terms of Xbox One X enhancements.
