It's that time of the year when the gaming industry's big wigs come together for a 3 day bonanza celebrating the launch of exclusive gaming titles and carrying forward popular franchises.
E3 this year saw Microsoft opening the event with some major gaming announcements. The very first one was the launch of a new software called Xbox SmartGlass that allows users to stream and share content across various smartphones, tablets and TVs. Demonstrations included turning your smartphone into a remote control to surf the web on a TV screen. Microsoft stated that the wireless streaming app will be made available for Windows phone Windows 8 and other mobile devices.
The other big official announcement was the integration of Internet Explorer with the Xbox which is due to release this fall. Earlier reports suggested that the Windows giant also added Kinect gestures and voice command integration for users to experience web browsing through the Bing search tool. Microsoft also announced that it will be launching a new online music service called Xbox Music.
Talking of games, Halo 4, Forza, Gears of War: Judgment and Dance Central 3 were some major titles announced. Apart from these, there were three new titles namely Ascend: New Gods, LocoCycle and Matter. A new game for South Park tilted South Park: The Stick of Truth came as a surprise.
