Watch Dogs 2 Release Date, Special Editions Announced

The sequel to 2014's open-world hack fest, Watch Dogs 2 has been officially revealed by Ubisoft. In addition to this, the company has announced when you can play the game. As was the case thanks to a leak by IGN, you can play Watch Dogs 2 on November 15 this year.

Furthermore, the location will be, as Kotaku suggested earlier in the year, San Francisco, a change from Chicago in the first game. This also means protagonist Aiden Pearce has been replaced by Marcus Holloway. One of the criticisms of Watch Dogs was how Pearce lacked any sense of personality, hopefully Holloway should prove otherwise.

Much like Ghost Recon Wildlands, there will be a host of special editions. The Deluxe Edition nets you an exclusive sleeve, a map of San Francisco, a lithograph, as well as a deluxe pack of customisation items to use in game. Much like the Amazon listing hours prior, it will be priced at $69.99.

There's a Gold Edition which has the game, season pass, and the aforementioned content from the Deluxe Edition. This will be priced at $99.99.

And there's more. The San Francisco Edition as a Collector's Edition Box, extra digital content including what's called the Zodiac Killer Mission, San Francisco-themed laptop stickers, a lithograph and a map of the city. Oh and the game as well.

Plus there are two editions exclusive to the Uplay Store. First up is the Wrench Junior Robot Collector's Pack. This comes with all the contents of the Gold Edition and a 20 centimetre Wrench Junior Robot that's controllable via an app.

The final version is the Return of DedSec Collector's Case. DedSec is a secret hacking collective from the first game and this has memorabilia tied to it including a cap and scarf of Holloway as well as a figurine of him. Along with this is a 64-page artbook, a Collector's Case, and all the contents of the Gold Edition of the game.

Considering how successful the first game was in India, you can expect the Deluxe Edition to make it to the nation in addition to standard copies of the game. In the past Ubisoft has restricted Gold Editions of its previous games like The Division to Amazon and this might stay the same here. Most Ubisoft games retail  for Rs. 3,499 on the PS4 and Xbox One with the PC versions priced at Rs. 1,799. Pre-ordering nets you the Zodiac Killer mission.

Safe to say you can expect the same pricing to hold for India as is the November 15 release date. As for the Deluxe Edition, it should be priced around Rs. 7,000 to 8,000 inline with previous special editions from Ubisoft but this remains to be seen.
