Suicide Squad may have not got the greatest of critical receptions at the box office and it seems we won’t get to see if its long-rumoured game can do better. The yet to be announced game from Warner Bros. has been cancelled.
Although Warner Bros. never formally revealed its existence, it was heavily hinted in Batman: Arkham Origins from its developer WB Montreal, and Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate developed by Recore studio Armature.

“Executives at Warner Bros. decided to axe the Suicide Squad game earlier this month following a long period of turbulence at WB Montreal, according to three people familiar with the studio. The game, which would star DC Comics’ eponymous band of anti-heroes, had been in development for at least two years. Hints of its existence had been floating around for just as long. I’ve heard it was a co-op game—and that it failed to impress Warner Bros. management during greenlight meetings—but not much else,” states Kotaku’s Jason Schreier.
Apparently a new Batman game starring Damian Wayne is in the works and according to Kotaku, was due to be revealed at the beginning of December. Nonetheless, considering that WB Montreal’s studio head Martin Carrier and executive producer Reid Schneider left the company and a new studio head was only hired at the end of November, could result in this Batman game not being revealed for awhile.

Considering that Kotaku was accurate with what to expect from other developers in the past such as Ubisoft with Assassin’s Creed and hardware such as the PS4 Pro we won’t be surprised to see this come to fruition.
Though we can’t help but feel that Warner Bros.’ release line-up looks lean. Injustice 2 is expected early next year and Shadow of Mordor 2 that was to be shown off at E3 2016 was nowhere to be seen. How it manages this lean spell with no big budget announcements will be interesting for fans.
