After rolling out its much-awaited PS4 system software v1.70 in April, which brought ShareFactory and other new features, Sony has released its next major system software (barring a few stability updates), v1.75.
The PS4 system software 1.75 update lets users watch Blu-ray 3D movies on the PlayStation 4 console, and more.
Sony made the announcement via a PlayStation Europe Twitter post, which said, "PS4 System Software 1.75 is now ready to download. Get downloading.!" along with an image that states 'PS4 system software update 1.75 adds 3D Blu-ray film support.'
The Sony PS4 system software 1.75 also brings improved sound during 1.5x playback with Blu-ray and DVD videos, as well as a shift in placement of some system notifications.
Notably, 3D Blu-ray support is not yet available on the Xbox One console for now. However, the console is expected to soon receive the same feature in August, with Xbox's Larry Hryb making the announcement on his blog.
The PS4 system software 1.75 update comes almost a month after Sony announced that Transformers: Rise of the Dark Spark video game will the first to get the auto pre-load feature. "Transformers: Rise of the Dark Spark, which launches on June 24th, will be the first PS4 title to take advantage of automatic pre-load," stated Chieh Chen, Digital Distribution Manager, Sony Network Entertainment, via a blog post.
Some of the major titles that will feature the pre-load option are Battlefield Hardline, Battlefield Hardline Deluxe Edition, Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, Destiny, Far Cry 4, The Order: 1886 and Uncharted 4: A Thief's End.
Recently, Sony introduced a limited edition Frozen-themed PlayStation 4 console for Japan. The version came as a tie-up between Sony and Disney under which the tech firm released its 'Frozen' PlayStation 4 console on the same date as the Frozen movie's DVD and Blu-ray version in Japan - July 16.
