Team-based shooter Overwatch gets BlizzardWorld, a new map. Announced at BlizzCon 2017,the BlizzardWorld map encapsulates themes and locales from past Blizzard games such as Diablo 3 and Hearthstone. Overwatch’s Jeff Kaplan said it’s a hybrid map - having both assault and payload elements.
In addition to this, Kaplan also revealed Moira — a new hero. She is a support healer character that can also dole out a surprising amount of damage and has an ability called Fade allowing for added mobility. In terms of Overwatch lore she was a part of Reaper’s Black Watch and has a history with Talon - one of Overwatch’s other factions.
No release date for BlizzardWorld or Moira has been revealed just yet. Instead, Kaplan said that they will be available in the game’s public test realm soon and should be playable for all early next year.
Furthermore, Blizzard showed off a new animated cinematic for Reinhardt, one of its more popular tank heroes, focussing on his backstory and his reasons for joining Overwatch.
Aside from the recently concluded Halloween event, Blizzard previously added Doomfist an offensive class character, joining the likes of Tracer, Soldier 76, and Reaper. His attacks are close range with a gauntlet on his right hand allowing him to punch through shields and can fire shotgun shells from his left hand. His ultimate ability, Meteor Strike launches him into the air and crashes into the ground for maximum damage.
