Halo 5: Guardians, Forza Motosport 6, and Rise of the Tomb Raider are all up for pre-order on the Xbox One on Amazon India, its exclusive retail partner in the country. At Rs. 4,699 a pop, these are perhaps the most expensive, standard editions of games you can pre-order at the moment.

If you thought going digital would save you some cash, the savings are negligible at best. A quick check on the Xbox Game Store has Halo 5 for Rs. 4,490 and Forza 6 for Rs. 4,290. At the time of writing this, Rise of the Tomb Raider was not up for digital pre-order just yet.

"Every game has its individual pricing. This is an estimated retail price for Halo 5," a representative from Microsoft explained when we discovered the abnormally high pre-order price for Microsoft's hotly anticipated first-person shooter.

This is odd considering they're all uniformly priced on Amazon via its merchant arm, Cloudtail. It also begs the question, what if the "estimated price" drops after someone pre-orders?

If you're an Xbox One owner and prefer buying your games on disc, you'll be spending a small fortune to acquire all three games at launch. Rs. 14,097 to be exact. Granted Sony's first-party pricing is usually not much better at Rs. 4,000 per game, every increase adds up if you've decided to pick up either console for its exclusive games. To put it into perspective, you can purchase a new gaming keyboard, 8GB of memory, or a solid state drive for a little less than Rs. 4,699. High prices like these make PC gaming a safer bet if you're the sort who isn't interested in Halo, Forza, or Tomb Raider.

Chances are, we'd see these drastically reduced a few weeks post-launch as was the case during Amazon's sales last year, so if you own an Xbox One, and are looking to play these games, you're better off waiting.
