After multiple delays PS4-exclusive Gran Turismo Sport is finally out. The last game in the series was Gran Turismo 6, released on December 6, 2013 for the PS3, days after the PS4 debuted. Almost four years later, the PS4 gets its first taste of simulation racing via developer Polyphony Digital. This is what you need to know about Gran Turismo Sport.
With Gran Turismo Sport’s release date in the US being October 17, the game is playable in the US right now. The game unlocks in India at 12am IST on October 18 - inline with Europe and the UK. Japan gets the game at midnight on October 19.
At the time of writing this, Gran Turismo Sport received a 12GB day one patch. It adds the following:
In Gran Turismo Sport review we felt that despite most of the game requiring you to be online, it delivers a compelling racing experience. This is thanks to great looking cars and tracks, a more than competent Driving School mode, and Challenge mode in its single-player campaign.
Granted you’ll need to be online to play Gran Turismo Sport, you won’t need PS Plus. As with all PlayStation titles, PS Plus will only be needed for the online multiplayer and portions of the Arcade Mode including limited two-player split screen. Single player races on select tracks and time trials can still be played offline.
As you’d expect there’s bevy of Gran Turismo Sport editions. Namely the Gran Turismo Sport Collectors Edition, the Gran Turismo Sport Steel Book Edition and the Gran Turismo Sport Day 1 Edition.
