Epic Games' popular shooter Fortnite is receiving a new update. Dubbed as the Fortnite v3.4 patch, it brings a slew of changes to the game on all platforms - iOS, PS4, Xbox One, and PC. The most notable of which pertains to those playing Fortnite mobile. The developers have added a new game data download system. Due to this, you'll have to download the entire game again. Fortnite iOS download size is 1.8GB. However the upside, Epic Games claims, is that it allows the company "to make much smaller updates in the future". Other additions include tweaks to the controls to make it more responsive and party text chat.
Depending on the iOS device you're playing Fortnite mobile on, you'll also get better visuals with anti-aliasing (4X MSAA) added to supported devices. On other platforms such as the PS4 and Xbox One, Fortnite frame rate has been upped from 30fps to 60fps while improving the visual quality.
"In v3.4 we made some significant GPU optimizations which improved visual quality, including resolution in 60fps mode, and we now feel there is very little reason to play at 30fps," Epic Games' patch notes reads.
Fortnite Invite Codes for iOS Invites Now Available
This isn't all. There's a new guided missile weapon to Fortnite Battle Royale as well as a new game mode in Sniper Shootout v2. And if you prefer Fortnite Save the World mode, a new mission called The Three Husketeers will be available. Furthermore, there's a promise of reduced lag thanks to major netcode optimisations.
The Fortnite v3.4 patch release date is March 29. Epic hasn't explicitly stated what time it would exactly hit. Don't expect the Fortnite v3.4 patch download size to be small though as a lot of the aforementioned changes seem to be crucial to the core experience. That being said, hopefully the v3.4 update doesn't break anything in the game that's working just fine. We'll know soon enough when it hits March 29.
