Fans of Activision's Call of Duty series will be thrilled to know that the next game in the series has been announced. Called Advanced Warfare, the title will release on November 4.
The trailer - captured on an Xbox One - is light on gameplay and features lots of cutscenes instead. Of course, there's a plenty of time until November and we'll see what the actual game looks like soon enough, but the huge over the top action scenes promise an experience that doesn't deviate too much from earlier entries.
There's also a very realistic looking Kevin Spacey, who's supposed to be the antagonist of the game. Spacey might not be doing the accent, but he's clearly channelling the mind set of his character from House of Cards, Francis Underwood. The character is seen talking about democracy and freedom, saying "people need a leader who can provide both the support, and the constraint, to keep chaos at bay."
Spacey's character meditates on the nature of power, and it's very strongly reminiscient of the kind of monologues he gives as Underwood. For example, in one episode, he says, "For those of us climbing to the top of the food chain, there can be no mercy. There is but one rule: hunt or be hunted."
The game seems to be set even further into the future than Call of Duty: Ghosts and we've got to wonder how many more entries it'll take before we see Halo-style space marine battles in a Call of Duty title. There are scenes of burning cities, and what looks to be fighting in America, with quad-copter drones in flight and a huge array of weaponry and explosions everywhere. Still, everything looks gorgeous, as expected from such a high profile next-generation title.
