It's not news that a new Doom game is in the works, but a new gameplay teaser trailer along with an E3 2015 reveal date will certainly whet gamer's appetites.
After a complete development reboot, beta invites with first editions of Wolfenstein: The New Order, and behind closed doors gameplay demos at Quakecon 2014 have led us to believe the game is further along than publisher Bethesda lets on.
This is further compounded by a three-second gameplay teaser that hit the Internet via Bethesda's YouTube channel. And while it sounds all too brief, it managed to show off two things that made the Doom series the cultural phenomenon that it is, namely the classic double-barrelled shotgun and a hellish, demonic enemy that resembles a ghoul but with guns on its shoulders and an annoying shriek. It's referred to in the series as the Revenant. It ends with a message stating that the worldwide gameplay reveal of this hotly anticipated shooter is expected at Bethesda's E3 showcase on June 14, 7pm Pacific Time, which for us in India is 7:30am on June 15.
Doom is being developed by id Software. The same studio behind Wolfenstein 3D, the Doom games and Quake, all of which pioneered the first-person shooter genre. It was also responsible for 2011's divisive first-person shooter, Rage.
