Counter-Strike is now playable on Android devices. Counter-Strike 1.6 to be precise. Not the current e-sports darling, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. And no, we're not referring to a playable stream of the PC version, nor a remake, it's the full game with access to servers and all the bells and whistles you'd expect in terms of features.

But if you were expecting an experience not too dissimilar from the PC version of this classic first-person shooter, think again. The implementation on Android devices has it riddled with virtual buttons on the screen, making it unintuitive for most.

Still, for those who are fans of the game, something is probably better than nothing. Even more so when you consider that this is due to the efforts of a single man. Alibek Omarov. He's even given instructions on how to do it.

You can get the necessary files on the GitHub page and you'll require access to your Steam account on a PC with a Counter-Strike 1.6 installation to obtain some required data. Keep in mind that before you can land a headshot or two you'll need the Xash3D Android engine higher than or equal to version 0.17 as well.

While it might not the greatest version of the game, it goes to show what's possible if Valve decides to bring it to smaller screens.
