The latest entry in Activision's long-running first-person shooter series, Call of Duty Blacks Ops 4 is slated to have an official reveal shortly. Distributors speaking to Gadgets 360 claim that Activision has plans to show off Call of Duty Black Ops 4's release date, logo, and platforms in a reveal that's due on March 8, 5:30pm GMT (March 8, 11pm IST).
Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Release Date Revealed, No Nintendo Switch Version
This was further confirmed by an Instagram post from UAE-based retailer, Geekay Games. The post has now been removed but here's a screenshot of it below that indicates the same timings, further corroborating the possibility of a Call of Duty Black Ops 4 announcement. Activision has not responded to Gadgets 360's request for comment.
Earlier in the week, images from Gamestop's internal database found their way to Call of Duty fan site, Charlie Intel. They reveal Call of Duty Black Ops 4-themed merchandise like t-shirts and lanyards with prices ranging from $6.99 to $19.99 (around Rs. 453 to Rs. Rs. 1,296).
According to popular gaming forum, ResetEra, marketing for new Call of Duty games traditionally begins around the NBA playoffs in early May or late April. It's odd that Activision would reveal details so soon.
Previously, Call of Duty Black Ops 4 was hinted to be Activision's 2018 entry in its long-running franchise with a version of the game slated for the Nintendo Switch in addition to PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
"COD 2018 is Black Ops 4 and is coming to PS4/Xbox/PC/Switch. It is set in the modern times and is boots on the ground. The Switch version will support DLC, HD Rumble and motion controls. The Switch version is also being ported by a company which is familar with COD games," tweeted industry insider and editor Marcus Sellars.
Considering how popular Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 still is, it's no surprise to see Activision continue with games set in the same universe and the listing images from Gamestop cement this. For Nintendo, it means a return of Call of Duty to its consoles. The last title to grace a Nintendo console was Call of Duty: Ghosts for the Nintendo Wii U back in 2013.
