There's going to be a new - and final - piece of downloadable content (DLC) for the fourth instalment in Rocksteady's Gotham-based superhero video game series - Batman: Arkham Knight - that will be available from Tuesday.

Titled "Season of Infamy", the new DLC will feature four known supervillains and the costume worn by Christian Bale in the popular and critically-acclaimed 2008 Christopher Nolan movie The Dark Knight. And if you were a fan of the original Batmobile from Batman: Arkham Asylum, you will now be able to drive it yourself, unlike in Asylum.

Among the supervillains is Ra's al Ghul who as you can expect will be bringing the League of Assassins with him. You will also run into the Mad Hatter, Mr Freeze and Killer Croc who all have their own story, and hence new missions that will take you to a new wing of the GCPD (Gotham City Police Department) among other places.

Batman's costume from The Dark Knight is a community-inspired creation, admitted co-founder of Rocksteady Studios and game director on Arkham Knight Sefton Hill.

"Fans on Twitter said this is the Batsuit we grew up with. So I called up DC [Comics] and Warner Bros., and said 'Guys we really need to do this. Can we work with the film guys?' Thankfully, everyone was on board," Hill added.

The new DLC not just concludes Arkham Knight since its release in June this year but it could also mean the end of Batman's time with the studio, Rocksteady's marketing producer Dax Ginn admitted during the season finale episode of their show - Arkham Insider - on YouTube.

Hill, meanwhile, was coyer with his reply and strayed away from a direct "no". He said it had been a privilege to be a custodian of the Batman universe and be part of it for nearly 10 years. He hopes that fans have been happy with the work they have done, though we doubt the ones on PC feel that way about Arkham Knight.

After a terrible launch version, Steam pulled Batman: Arkham Knight off its system. The game was re-released towards the end of October but publisher Warner Bros. offered full refunds days later.
