Ubisoft, a leading game developer and publisher, has officially teased the seventh iteration of its famous Assassin's Creed franchise - Assassin's Creed: Unity.
By releasing the teaser video of one minute, the gaming firm, besides announcing Assassin's Creed: Unity officially, has also made it clear that the next version would bring better graphics and intricate details in the gameplay environment. The company also teased a Holiday (December) release for the game.
The 'alpha game footage' in the Assassin's Creed: Unity teaser video first shows us the empty palaces and streets of Paris, which is followed by a scene showing the town hall in front of which is placed a large guillotine, a public execution device made famous during the French Revolution. The video also shows huge mob around the town hall awaiting an execution. At the same time, we see the main protagonist, a man wearing the iconic hood and standing on top of a building looking down towards the crowd.
The video also reveals Assassin's Creed: Unity will be released for Sony PlayStation 4, Microsoft Xbox One and PCs by the tail-end of 2014. The video description also mentions that Ubisoft team has been working on this version for more than three years.
"Qu'ils mangent de la brioche [Let them eat cake]! We have been working on the new Assassin's Creed for more than three years and although we weren't quite ready to show you our full vision for a next-gen only AC, it seems Abstergo are trying to force our hand! So here's a true first look at in-game footage from Assassin's Creed Unity. Stay tuned - we'll have many more exciting details for you in the months ahead!," states the description.
It has been noted that the gameplay of Assassin's Creed: Unity is set during the French revolution period, according to Forbes. In addition, IGN describes Unity as one of the two Assassin's Creed games releasing this year. The second rumoured version is dubbed as Assassin's Creed: Comet, which might be only a PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 exclusive.
In a few purported screenshot leaks acquired by Kotaku, the main assassin character is seen roaming around in iconic places in Paris - Notre Dame, the Seine River, and other Parisian landmarks. The screenshots are said to be taken from the early version of the Assassin's Creed: Unity game. The assassin in the game is expected to be named as Arno.
Assassin's Creed: Unity will reportedly run on Snowdrop Engine, which Tom Clancy's The Division will be using. The game engine was recently unveiled at GDC 2014 by Ubisoft.
