The next installment of "Assassin's Creed" may take a trip further back in time.
"Assassin's Creed III" creative director Alex Hutchinson told a fans during a Comic-Con panel Thursday that if the game's developers always moved the stealthy historical video game series forward, they could be dooming themselves "to run out of history."
Ubisoft Entertainment's upcoming "Assassin's Creed III" pushes the open-world franchise's previous settings past the Crusades and the Renaissance to the American Revolution.
During the presentation, developers demonstrated some "Assassin's Creed III" gameplay set in an early rendition of Boston. Native American protagonist Connor ascended brick buildings, slipped past redcoats and bashed Scottish brawlers.
"Assassin's Creed III" is set for release Oct. 30.
