AMD on Wednesday launched what it claims is the world's fastest and most powerful graphics card - the AMD Radeon R9 295X2. Joining two AMD Radeon R9 Series GPUs in a single card design, AMD says gamers can expect it to play most current-gen games in maximum settings at 4K resolution.
The AMD Radeon R9 295X2 graphics card will be available later this month at a starting price of $1499 (approximately Rs. 90,059) excluding taxes. The Radeon R9 295X2 comes equipped with a closed-loop and pre-assembled liquid cooling system. The liquid cooling system is developed by Asetek.
Talking about Asetek's involvement, Andre Eriksen, CEO and founder of the company said, "Asetek is proud to collaborate with AMD to provide an outstanding cooling solution for a truly cutting-edge and groundbreaking graphics card."
Built on the Graphics Core Next (GCN) architecture, the card offers gamers access to a low-overhead API in the form of Mantle. Moreover, AMD TrueAudio technology adds a dedicated audio processor to the GPU eliminating the need for a dedicated audio card and AMDs Eyefinity technology enables multi-monitor configurations.
Specifications include 11.5 TFLOPS of processing power, 5632 stream processors, 8GB of GDDR5 RAM, and a 512-bit memory interface x 2.
"AMD is thrilled to launch the AMD Radeon R9 295X2 graphics card, built on the same award-winning Graphics Core Next (GCN) architecture that powers the gaming industry," said Matt Skynner, corporate vice president and general manager, Graphics Business Unit, AMD. "This record-shattering dual-GPU card will enable industry-leading audio and visually stunning 4K gaming, proving once again that Radeon is gaming."
Erikson added, "With our custom fitted liquid cooling technology, the AMD Radeon R9 295X2 graphics card delivers quiet powerful performance."
In late March, Nvidia unveiled its own 'world's fastest graphics card', the GTX Titan Z, which features a dual-Kepler GPU design, a staggering price tag of $2,999.
