The Steam Summer Sale has now started and there are a lot of deals available. Finding the best ones can be a challenge, and if you're confused with the deals available, just take a look at our picks of the best of what's on offer right now.

1. Valkyria Chronicles ($4.99, 75 percent off)

This one time PlayStation 3 exclusive has found cult following on PC (Windows to be precise, sorry Linux and OS X users). It's a turn-based strategy with role-playing game elements that has a slick art style. And at $4.99 you don't want to miss it.

2. Tales from the Borderlands ($12.49, 50 percent off)

Developed by Telltale Games, the people behind the Wolf Among Us and Game of Thrones games, Tales from the Borderlands is an episodic adventure in the same vein. Featuring great characters and witty dialogue, it's set in the Borderlands universe, which if you think about it, is the satirical equivalent Mad Max, in space! At half price, you really should not miss out on this excellent game. You can play this on Windows and OS X.

3. Metro Redux Bundle ($9.99, 80 percent off)

The Metro series of first-person shooters has been know for it's gritty atmosphere, hostile world, and satisfying gunplay. At 80 percent off it's an absolute steal. Even more so considering you get both games that are the benchmark for great looking PC games. Runs on Windows, OS X and Linux.

4. The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth($7.49, 50 percent off)

This randomly generated shooter with role-playing game elements from one of the creators of cult indie platformer Super Meat Boy is a treat to play. Excellent gameplay, eye-catching art, and an unsettling premise deliver a game that's more addictive than it should be. It runs on almost anything thanks to the super low system requirements and supports Windows, OS X, Steam OS, and Linux.

5. Surgeon Simulator: Anniversary Edition ($2.59, 80 percent off)

From Bossa Studios, the fine people behind quirky games like I Am Bread, comes Surgeon Simulator. It lets you partake in gory surgical procedures complete with wonky physics. Not a game you'd use as training for the real thing but entertaining nonetheless. Much like The Binding of Isaac, it runs on almost anything and supports Windows, OS X, Steam OS, and Linux to boot.
