About Spencer Movie (2021)
Spencer is a fictionalised psychological drama based on the divorce, and exit of Princess Diana from the British royal family. The film revolves around a three-day holiday of the royals in England’ Sandringham estate.
The film portrays the royal family — except for her sons — as indifferent and cold towards her. The Princess of Wales is shown to have found support only in Maggie (Sally Hawkins), the royal dresser.
Spencer has cinematised Princess Diana’s harrowing mental health, her loveless marriage dotted with infidelity on Prince Charles’ part, frequent nervous breakdowns, episodes of self-harm, harassing public scrutiny, strict norms of the royal lineage, and her relationship with her two sons: William (Jack Nielen) and Harry (Freddie Spry).
