About Shantaram TV Series

Based on Gregory David Roberts' international best-selling novel, fugitive and heroin addict Lin Ford (Hunnam) escapes a maximum-security Australian prison and flees to India, where he reinvents himself as a doctor in the chaotic slums of 1980s Bombay.

Alone in an unfamiliar city and trying to avoid the trouble he's running from, Lin gets entangled with a local mafia boss and the criminal underworld that leads him to Afghanistan. He uses his gun-running and counterfeiting skills to battle the invading Russian troops in Afghanistan.

During all this, he is also falling for an enigmatic and intriguing woman, Karla (Antonia Desplat), and must choose between freedom and love.
