After months of waiting, Disney has released the first full trailer for Star Wars: The Last Jedi, the eighth chapter in the long-running Skywalker family space opera saga. The trailer premiered as part of Monday Night Football in the US, and has since been uploaded to Star Wars' social channels.
The over two-minute clip is constructed around the on-going rivalry between Rey (Daisy Ridley) Rey and Kylo Ren (Adam Driver), and their intertwined fates. The new Last Jedi trailer begins with a voice over from an unseen character, which talks about "untamed power" and how "truly special" they are, while cutting between shots of the two.
Later in the trailer, Mark Hamill's Luke Skywalker is terrified to see the capabilities of Rey, as it likely makes him think back to the time her sister Leia Organa's (Carrie Fisher) son trained with him. That leads into a montage of war shots, with one of them making it look like that Kylo Ren might have to decide killing his other parent too.

As you can see, we're then treated to a shot of the new creature Porgs, before Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac) appears and talks about someone having the ability to bring down the First Order. The trailer makes it look like he's referring to Finn (John Boyega), who suffered a serious back injury at the end of The Force Awakens, but has healed enough to take on Captain Phasma (Gwendoline Christie).
The Star Wars: The Last Jedi trailer closes with Rey and Kylo Ren face-to-face, as the former says: "I need someone to show me my place in all this," to which the latter extends his hand as an offer. What is going on? Who's switching to which side?
We'll have to wait a couple of more months to find out. Star Wars: The Last Jedi is out December 15.
